What Should Be Included in an Inflatable SUP Kit? A Guide for Brands

A stack of colorful inflatable paddleboards with various designs displayed indoors, accompanied by text discussing components of an inflatable SUP kit.

Short answer: compare SUP accessory quotations against the same component list, model references, quantities, branding requirements and delivery basis. A quotation that says “complete SUP kit” leaves too much undefined for a private-label order.

I’m Charlie from Huale. We recommend defining the accessory package before comparing its price. This guide gives brands and distributors a way to identify what each supplier has included, which upgrades change the offer, and what must be confirmed before an order is approved.

Define one kit configuration before requesting prices

Start with the board model or SKU, destination market, intended customer and order quantity. Then define whether the quotation covers the board alone, an accessory-only package, or a board-and-accessory kit.

Write a bill of materials, or BOM: a list of the components and quantities assigned to that configuration. Give it a revision reference so suppliers can identify the version they are quoting.

Separate included items from optional upgrades. If an electric pump is optional, ask for the base configuration and the upgrade difference as separate quote lines. This keeps a change in contents visible when offers are compared.

Record any undecided requirement as an open item. “To be confirmed” is more useful than allowing two suppliers to make different assumptions about the same kit.

Specify accessories at component level

A product name identifies a category. A quotation needs enough detail to identify the actual component and its relationship to the board.

Component Record in the quotation specification Evidence to request
Paddle Model, materials by component, assembled weight, adjustment range, branding Model sheet, weight record and assembled sample
Pump Model, valve connection, pressure capability, gauge details; power supply for electric models Compatibility check and operating instructions
Fin Fin-box interface, dimensions and retaining parts Installation photos and approved replacement reference
Backpack Model, dimensions, carrying features and branding position Sample packed with the full agreed kit
Leash Exact system, size and intended operating environment Product instructions and suitability information
Repair kit Exact contents, quantities and packing requirements Contents list and relevant handling instructions

For a paddle described as carbon, identify which parts use that material. A shaft description does not establish the composition of the blade, handle or complete assembly. Request the supporting specification before repeating the claim in a product listing.

For pumps and fins, approve the actual board-and-accessory pairing. A statement that a part is “universal” does not replace a check of the connection, fitting or retaining hardware.

For each supplier, keep a deviation log with these fields: BOM line, offered model, quantity, status, price inclusion and action required. Use “matched,” “different” or “unconfirmed” as the status. A missing model reference remains unconfirmed until it is resolved; it should not be silently treated as equivalent.

Use Huale’s SUP accessories to discuss the component categories for your project. The written quotation should still identify the exact items offered for that order.

Evaluate upgrades against a defined customer need

An electric pump may address preparation effort, but its value depends on the customer’s launch location, access to power, carrying requirements and the proposed pump model. Check these conditions before making it the default for a product range.

Consider an illustrative configuration question, not a Huale offer: a base kit contains one manual pump. An electric upgrade could replace it or add a second pump. Record the final models and quantities, then request the price difference against that exact configuration. The two arrangements should have separate BOM revisions even if both are described as an electric-pump package.

If inflation time is part of the comparison, request results for the quoted board-and-pump combination. The record should state board dimensions, starting condition, target pressure, power source, environment and repeated results. Compare records made under compatible conditions.

For a paddle upgrade, identify the change in assembled weight, adjustment, joint fit or other specified feature. Check those properties on the proposed model. A material label alone does not show what the buyer is receiving for the price difference.

Apply the same method to dry bags, seats and other optional items: name the customer problem, define the component, and confirm how it fits the board and package. Keep each option separately identified in the quotation and retail contents list.

Compare the commercial scope of each quote

Two prices become comparable when their product and commercial assumptions are visible. Ask suppliers to return the following items separately rather than combining every cost into an unexplained total.

Cost group What to clarify
Supplied configuration Exact BOM revision, quantities and included packaging
Customization charges Artwork, printing, setup or development charges, where applicable
Optional items Component model, quantity and price difference for each option
Delivery basis Agreed trade term, named place, version and stated inclusions

For delivery responsibilities, consult the ICC overview of Incoterms® rules. These rules allocate tasks, costs and risks in delivery; the agreed component list should be recorded separately in the purchasing specification.

Confirm order requirements by component and customization method. An order quantity accepted for the board does not establish the order requirement for a separately branded paddle, printed bag or other accessory. Ask how quantities can be allocated across the proposed SKUs.

Record quotation validity, payment assumptions, sample charges and the production schedule attached to that configuration. If these remain open, identify the quotation as provisional.

For the wider board-purchasing process, see our wholesale SUP board buying guide. Keep this accessory comparison attached to the same project brief.

Match documentation to the component and market

Request documents against the quoted models and destination market. Record the document holder, product identification, scope, date and applicable requirements. A factory audit and a product-specific report answer different purchasing questions.

The European Commission explains that CE marking applies to products covered by the relevant EU rules. Do not treat a general CE statement as evidence that every item in a mixed accessory kit is covered. Check the applicability and document scope for the actual components.

Safety-related configuration also depends on use. RNLI paddleboarding guidance addresses buoyancy aids, accessible communication, appropriate leashes and environmental conditions. Record what the kit includes and what the customer must obtain separately; match the instructions to the intended setting.

Freeze the specification before accessory approval

The quotation, sample and packing list should refer to the same configuration. Before approving the accessory package, record:

  1. Board SKU and accessory BOM revision.
  2. Exact component models, quantities and compatibility checks.
  3. Approved branding, labels, instructions and packaging references.
  4. Agreed inspection methods and acceptance requirements.
  5. Replacement-part identification and the process for approving substitutions.

Where a sample is required, check the proposed configuration physically rather than relying on a generic kit photograph. Fit the fin, connect the pump, assemble the paddle and repack the agreed contents. Record the result against that revision.

Use the SUP sample approval checklist for the wider board and packaging sign-off. An accessory quotation should feed into that approval record so later changes can be identified and agreed.

FAQ: Private-label SUP accessory quotations

What should a private-label SUP accessory quote include?

It should identify the board or project reference, component models, quantities, branding, packaging, optional items, order requirements and commercial terms. Each supplier should quote the same specification revision and identify any deviations.

Should an electric pump replace the hand pump in every kit?

The choice depends on the intended customer, power availability, board compatibility and package requirements. Quote the proposed electric model separately and decide whether a manual option or backup is appropriate for that use.

Does carbon material justify a higher paddle quote?

Assess the quoted paddle’s composition, assembled weight, adjustment and joint fit. Establish what changes in the proposed model and whether that change serves the target customer. The material name alone is insufficient for the comparison.

Does one CE document cover the entire SUP kit?

Do not assume it does. Check which products and models the documentation identifies and which rules apply to each component. A document covering one item does not, by itself, establish coverage of every item in the package.

What should be fixed before approving the accessory order?

Fix the BOM revision, exact component references, quantities, branding, packaging and agreed checks. Record unresolved items and require approval for later substitutions so the quotation, sample and delivered configuration can be compared.
