POOL VOLUME CALCULATOR · B2B PLANNING TOOL

Drop Stitch Pool Water Volume Calculator: Litres & Gallons

Calculate the estimated water volume of a rectangular, round or oval drop stitch pool using the actual water dimensions and planned fill depth.

This calculator converts pool dimensions into litres, cubic metres, US gallons and Imperial gallons. For B2B buyers, the result can be used as an early specification input when comparing pool sizes, preparing quotations or reviewing pump, filtration and external equipment requirements.

For the Most Useful Estimate

01
Use Internal Water Dimensions External pool dimensions can overestimate usable water volume because the wall structure occupies space.
02
Enter Actual Fill Depth Water depth is normally lower than the full sidewall height.
03
Select the Correct Shape Rectangular, round and oval pools use different geometric formulas.
04
Treat the Result as an Estimate Final working volume should be confirmed from the approved pool specification or sample.
INTERACTIVE CALCULATOR

Calculate Drop Stitch Pool Water Volume

Select the pool shape, measurement unit and dimension basis. Enter the actual water dimensions and planned fill depth to estimate litres, cubic metres, US gallons and Imperial gallons.

Use usable water length where available.
Use usable water width where available.
Do not automatically use full wall height.
You selected external pool dimensions. The calculated result is a gross geometric estimate and can overstate usable water volume because drop stitch walls, corners and internal structures occupy space. Use internal water dimensions for quotation or equipment planning where possible.
Please enter valid dimensions greater than zero.

Enter the pool dimensions to see the calculation formula.
The result will appear here after calculation.

Calculator results are geometric estimates. They do not automatically include allowance for rounded corners, wall intrusion, steps, seats, occupants, equipment displacement or other internal features. Use the approved production drawing or measured sample volume when final system sizing depends on an exact working capacity.

CALCULATION METHOD

How Is Drop Stitch Pool Water Volume Calculated?

Pool volume is calculated from the usable water footprint and actual fill depth. Different pool shapes use different geometric formulas, so selecting the correct shape is important when preparing a volume estimate.

RECTANGULAR / SQUARE

Rectangular Pool Volume

Length × Width × Fill Depth

Use the internal water length and width rather than the overall external dimensions where an approved drawing or sample measurement is available.

ROUND

Round Pool Volume

π × (Diameter ÷ 2)² × Fill Depth

A round pool uses the circular water footprint. The internal water diameter gives a more useful estimate than the total outside diameter.

OVAL / ELLIPTICAL

Oval Pool Volume

π × (Length ÷ 2) × (Width ÷ 2) × Fill Depth

This calculator treats an oval pool as an ellipse. Custom capsule, irregular or project-specific shapes should be calculated from the final drawing rather than this simplified formula.

Unit conversion: 1 cubic metre = 1,000 litres. NIST lists 1 US gallon as approximately 3.785412 litres and 1 Imperial gallon as 4.54609 litres. View the NIST conversion reference .
DIMENSION BASIS

Should You Use Internal or External Pool Dimensions?

For water-volume calculation, internal water dimensions are normally more useful than the outside dimensions of the complete inflatable pool. Drop stitch walls have physical thickness, and custom pools can also include corners, steps, seats, fittings or other structures that reduce the usable water space.

Internal Dimensions
Best starting point for estimating usable water volume, equipment requirements and project specifications.
External Dimensions
Useful for site footprint, storage and overall product size, but they can overstate the internal water volume.
Custom Pool Drawing
For large or irregular OEM projects, use the approved drawing to define the actual water footprint before final equipment or quotation planning.
Final Sample
When exact working capacity matters, sample measurement or controlled filling provides better confirmation than a geometric estimate alone.
FILL DEPTH

Why Pool Wall Height Is Not the Same as Water Depth

Using the full wall height as the water depth can overestimate the operating water volume. The calculator therefore asks for actual fill depth separately from the overall pool specification.

Wall Height

The manufactured vertical dimension of the pool sidewall. This is a product specification and affects construction, appearance and overall pool depth.

Actual Fill Depth

The planned working water level inside the pool. This is the dimension that should normally be used in the volume calculation.

Procurement rule: when comparing two supplier quotations, confirm whether the quoted “water volume” is based on full wall height, nominal capacity or an actual working fill level. Otherwise, two similar pools can appear to have different capacities simply because different assumptions were used.
CALCULATION EXAMPLES

Example Drop Stitch Pool Water Volume Calculations

The examples below use internal water dimensions and actual fill depth. They are geometric examples rather than standard Huale product specifications.

RECTANGULAR

3.0m × 2.0m × 0.55m Fill Depth

3.0 × 2.0 × 0.55 = 3.30m³

≈ 3,300 L
ROUND

2.0m Diameter × 0.45m Fill Depth

π × 1.0² × 0.45 ≈ 1.414m³

≈ 1,414 L
OVAL / ELLIPTICAL

3.0m × 2.0m × 0.55m Fill Depth

π × 1.5 × 1.0 × 0.55 ≈ 2.592m³

≈ 2,592 L
B2B PLANNING

What Can Buyers Use the Water Volume Estimate For?

Pool water volume is one useful input in a larger product specification. It can help buyers compare pool formats and prepare technical questions before a quotation or sample is finalized.

Quotation Input

Add estimated litres or gallons to the pool shape, dimensions, wall height and quantity when discussing a custom project.

Pump & Filtration Review

Water volume can be one input when reviewing external circulation, filtration or other equipment requirements.

Model Comparison

Compare two pool sizes on actual working water capacity rather than external dimensions alone.

Project Specification

Use the estimate as an early planning figure before the approved production drawing and sample confirm the final working capacity.

FINAL CONFIRMATION

When Is a Simple Pool Volume Calculator Not Enough?

Geometric formulas work well for early planning, but large commercial pools and custom shapes can require a project-specific calculation based on the final design.

Integrated Steps
Steps occupy part of the internal water space and can reduce actual capacity.
Built-In Seats
Internal seating or raised structures change the usable water volume.
Irregular Shapes
Heart-shaped, curved, multi-section or custom project pools should be calculated from the approved geometry rather than a rectangular or oval approximation.
Large Commercial Pools
Equipment and structural planning should use the final approved specification and actual operating water level.
Final Equipment Sizing
Pump, filtration and other equipment should not be selected from estimated water volume alone.
POOL VOLUME FAQ

Drop Stitch Pool Water Volume Questions

Practical answers for buyers using litres or gallons to compare pool sizes and prepare a project specification.

01 How do I calculate the water volume of a rectangular inflatable pool?

Multiply the internal water length by the internal water width and the actual fill depth. If the dimensions are in metres, the result is in cubic metres. Multiply cubic metres by 1,000 to convert the result to litres.

02 How do I calculate the water volume of a round drop stitch pool?

Use the circular volume formula: π × radius² × actual fill depth. The radius is half of the internal water diameter.

03 Should I use wall height as the pool water depth?

Not automatically. The actual operating water level can be lower than the manufactured wall height. For a more useful volume estimate, enter the planned fill depth rather than assuming the pool will be filled to the top of the wall.

04 Should I calculate pool volume from internal or external dimensions?

Internal water dimensions are normally more useful because the drop stitch walls occupy part of the overall footprint. External dimensions can be used for a rough estimate, but they may overstate usable water capacity.

05 Can I use the calculator result to select a pump or filtration system?

Water volume is one useful input, but final equipment selection can also depend on circulation requirements, intended use, operating schedule, connection layout and equipment specifications. Use the final approved pool volume when equipment sizing depends on an exact capacity.
